Crazy Healthy Claims! Really?

The beverage industry is loaded with brands that tout the ability to cure every health issue. The list of health benefits is so expansive I am not sure if there is a need for Doctors anymore. Just drink yourself healthy. Just ask these brands.

1) Vitamin Water cures sickness so there is no need to see your Internist. Sugar cures sickness, who knew!

2) Vita Coco will smooth your skin, keep your body cool, and eliminate poor circulation. A pimple cure, air conditioner, and circulation improver all in one bottle and the price is only $3. Really?!

3) POM will boost your immune system to the point where you can “cheat death”. For $6 a drink you might actually have a heart attack and die. So much for “cheating death”.

4) Kombucha prevents Cancer. Stop donating money to Cancer Societies there is a cure already!

The list goes on to products healing erectile dysfunction to providing enough antioxidants that your head will actually turn into a blueberry!

Well now it is time to for the Greater Than health benefits:

A) Wash your hair with Greater Than and it will become stronger than Rapunzel’s

B) Pour Greater Than in your ears so it gets into your brain and your IQ will increase

C) Put Greater Than in your gas tank and your car will do 0-60 MPH in one second

D) Drink a case of Greater Than a day, and on your death bed you will receive total consciousness. So you got there going for you, which is nice! Just ask the Lama himself.

Come on people in the beverage industry! Launch healthy, functional, and good tasting products, but please stop touting unrealistic health claims for the sake of selling more units. That tactic is definitley not being Greater Than.

What makes a great brand?

Well to start:

  • Great products
  • Great innovative ideas
  • Great Customer Base

Great brands are remarkable in multiple ways. One way is with their logo.

The G > T list of top 6 logos of all time are as follows: (The reason for a top 6 is because everyone does a top 5, and we don’t want to be like everyone :>)

6) Greater > Than – An innovative & healthy drink that inspires & hydrates effectively. Seriously genius : >)
5) Augusta National (The Masters) - Any shirt with the yellow flag planted on Georgia is pure class.
4) Apple – When you have an Apple product you just feel cool even though somone took a bite out of it.
3) Playboy – The bunny has always been classic & iconic. The logo itself keeps the brand alive.
2) Nike – The swoosh is legendary
1) Jumpman – Nothing is Greater > Than than Air Jordan. The Jumpman is the best logo of all time & most likely will be forever.

Naming Your Business

Once you have your business idea in the works it will soon become time to name it. So how important is the name of your business? There are examples of names which clearly describe the product, and there are brand names that do not correlate to the product at all. There is no guarantee on success no matter what you name your company.

Below are some great descriptive brand names whose name directly attributes to their products:

Vitamin Water is a great name (although deceiving… should be named Sugar Water. See link for more on this: http://bit.ly/SugarWater

  • Kernel Seasons is a great name (Popcorn seasoning for popcorn kernels)
  • Scratch Golf (Golf clubs for scratch handicaps)
  • Puma (shoes that make you run like the animal)

Here are some great names that don’t directly relate to the product yet are wildly successful anyway:

  • Apple (a healthy fruit now more known for savvy electronics)
  • Google (somehow relates to search but does it really to the average person)
  • Nike (could have been named Google or Apple…. imagine that)

So how should you name your company? The answer is to name your company something that makes you proud. Because ultimately it will be your hard work that puts your company on the map not just some creative name. Never the less, naming companies will try to convince you otherwise and charge you up to $10K to name your business.

In our case, Greater > Than represented our own personal quests to raise the bar & self improve. It was a natural fit to our new healthy GreaterAde. So with that Greater > Than was born!

With hard work, hopefully, Greater > Than can become as known as the other brands listed. However, in spite of our great name, if we lack the determination to Be Greater > Than our business is going nowhere. So come up with a name that inspires you to hustle because with out that your name will be unknown no matter what.

Go For Greater > Than!

Looking Greater > Than in suits. A healthy hydration drink that performs.

It has been quite a journey to just get to this point of actually making our first blog post. The process of launching a product is an undertaking to say the least.

Statistics show that the odds of success for a startup are a long shot, and in the beverage category they are more like a hail mary. In spite of knowing this discouraging fact, we still believed in our idea. So we put on our blinders and acted on our innovative vision. We teamed up with incredibly talented people who make us look a lot smarter than we actually are. A big G > T thanks to all the people who supported this endeavor in many different ways.

Now that we have succeeded in getting to market, and created a Greater > Than product (pun intended) the real battle has now begun.

We are inspired by others before us who have shown it is possible. We hope we can one day inspire others that innovative visions accompanied with great passion can be a success, despite the odds.
